The Gnotobiotic Core provides specialized infrastrucure and expertise to study host-microbiome interactions under controlled microbial conditions. The Gnotobiotic Core supports investigators whose research requires germ-free model organisms with specialized infrastructure and expertise to study host-microbiome interactions under controlled microbial conditions.

Services
The Gnotobiotic Core offers a variety of targeted services on CHOP's Philadelphia Campus to help your project be successful.

The Core provides:

Germ-free strains for researchers
Germ-free rederivation of model strains (future service)
Maintenance of germ-free model organism colonies
Colonization with defined microbial consortia or complex microbiota
Completion of controlled microbial transfer experiments such as fecal microbiota transplantation.
The team also is equipped to support experimental design, sterile technique training, cultivation, and microbiological monitoring (e.g., culture, PCR, sequencing) to verify microbial status.
