The mouse modeling core supports the generation and utilization of genetically modified mice. We help design & support your cancer related projects. Including tumor implantation, growth curve monitoring and tumor removal. We offer start to finish experiment services to assist your many needs. We also provide several different humanized immune system mouse models.

There are many technician services: animal husbandry, IP, IM, SQ and IV injections, blood drawing, necropsy and surgeries- embryo transfers/rederivation/sterile c-sections to produce gnotobiotic lines, ovariectomy, vasectomy, tumor removal, kidney ischemia, tissue implants etc.

The Genomics Data Sciences Core (GDSC) at Dartmouth offers comprehensive services to support the bioinformatic, computational, and statistical analysis of genomics data. We maintain a suite of standardized analysis pipelines for common data types like RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, and genome assembly. For more complex datasets, such as single-cell genomics, we provide tailored analysis solutions. Our team assists with all project stages, from experimental design to publication support and data management. Additionally, the GDSC hosts several multi-day bioinformatics workshops designed to introduce fundamental concepts for analysis of genomics data.

The Irradiation, Imaging, Microscopy and Animal Cancer Models Shared Resource at Dartmouth Cancer center is an integrated resource offering services in Irradiation, pre-clinical imaging of small and large animals, light and electron microscopy as well as large and small animal cancer models.

The Irradiation Section assists investigators in radiation treatment planning and delivery of ionizing irradiation to cells, rodents and large animals with engineered, transplanted or spontaneous tumors.

The Imaging Section provides technologies for non-invasive, whole-animal imaging of animals used in preclinical research studies.

The Microscopy Section provides access to point scanning confocal microscopy with Airyscan super resolution, conventional bright field and fluorescence light microscopy, high throughput live imaging, automated slide scanning and image analysis resources. The electron microscopy resource provides state of the art scanning , transmission and scanning transmission electron microscopy.

The Animal Cancer Models section supports the generation and utilization of large and small animals for modeling cancer and other human diseases. The section has expertise in generating cancer models using wild type or genetically engineered animals in immunocompetent and immunocompromised backgrounds, as well as mice with a humanized immune system.

The facility provides state of the art imaging instrumentation and analysis software along with training and expertise to ensure their proper and efficient use. Instrumentation and technologies available to users include: (i) Zeiss LSM800 AIRYSCAN confocal microscope, a point scanning confocal system with high sensitivity GaAsP detectors allows confocal imaging of live cells, fixed cells, and tissues. It has full stage environmental control (temperature, gas and humidity) and autofocus, allowing long time lapse experiments of live cells. The Airyscan 32-detector array allows super resolution imaging. The system is integrated by Zen software allowing 3-D reconstruction, co-localization, deconvolution and image tiling. (ii) PerkinElmer / Akoya Vectra 3.0 Automated Quantitative Pathology Imaging System is a brightfield and fluorescence whole slide scanner with multi-spectral acquisition and spectral unmixing capabilities, allows highly multiplexed biomarker imaging on tissues sections and cells. (iii) Agilent/BioTek Cytation 5 with BioSpa8 live-cell microscopy system for fluorescence and phase contrast microscopy suitable for high throughput and long-term studies of cell-cell interaction, cell proliferation, survival and migration. The system enables time-lapsed images and kinetic measurements from living cells over many days with up to eigth multi-well plates imaged independently. (iv) Olympus IX-83 ZDC2 microscope equipped with a PRIMO UV light-based bioengineering device for micropatterning and microfabrication. (v) Olympus IX73 Inverted Fluorescence Microscope: has a wide assortment of fluorescence filters and objectives allowing high quality image capture of slides/multi-well plates using immunohistochemistry (IHC) or fluorescence readily is achieved. Image analysis software hosted on appropriately powered workstations with cloud connectivity for high capacity storage provided by Dartmouth College: HALO3, Inform, Volocity, AutoDeblur, Image-J / Fiji.

The shared resource also provides state of the art instrumentation for transmission and scanning electron microscopy, housed in the Dartmouth Electron Microscopy Facility (director M. Guinel, PhD). Instrumentation avaiable: (vii) FEI Talos F200i (200kV TEM and STEM electron microscope (TEM), equipped for micro-analysis, and cryo-EM.
(viii) FEI Helios CX5 dual beam FIB-SEM system allowing high resolution electron and ion beam imaging, ion beam milling and automated imaging of biological samples for 3D reconstruction. The system is also equipped with three X-ray microanalysis detectors allowing elemental analysis of the specimens. The facility has instruments for specimen preparation for transmission and scanning electron microscopy including ultramicrotomes (Leica Ultracut UC6 and UC7), critical point dryer (Samdri-970), Leica ACE 600 coater and ThermoFisher Vitrobot..

The Clinical Pharmacology (CP) Shared Resource has been in operation since 1993 and supports Dartmouth Cancer Center (DCC) investigators in the design, performance, data analysis, and interpretation of pharmacology objectives in preclinical (in vivo and ex vivo), clinical and epidemiological studies at the lowest cost and highest value possible.

We carry out customized end-point assays using human WB/PBMCs for clinical trials; ELISPOT, multiplex cytokine analysis, cell energy analysis, blood processing and cryopreservation.
We carry out up to 20-color flow cytometry phenotyping and up to 11-color FACS cell subset sorting. We are available for consultation, data analysis, and we offer a 5-lecture Flow Cytometry training course.

DartMouseâ„¢ is a not-for-profit core facility funded by the NIH. The mission of DartMouse is to facilitate the development of congenic mice in support of pre-clinical projects across the U.S. Use of DartMouse allows the generation of congenic mice in 5 generations (~1.5 year), vs. 10 generations (~3 years) required by conventional back-crossing. Investigators fill out our accession form and supply mouse tail clippings - from these DartMouse isolates genomic DNA and performs and analyzes complete genome-wide scans. We return data in graphical and spreadsheet formats, and make specific recommendations on breeder selection. In addition to helping investigators create congenic mice, we also provide a background check service to test the genetic purity of your mice. If there is contaminating genome present, we can then help you back-cross onto your inbred strain of interest. Chips use a 1449 SNP array covering the mouse genome with an average density of < 2 cM. Turnaround time from receipt of samples to results is less than 14 business days. Prices are competitive.

The Center for Molecular Epidemiology Biorepository Core of the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth utilizes a combination of manual and advanced robotic liquid handing processes, as well as traditional and state-of-the art automated archival storage strategies (e.g. ambient temperature, 4°C, -20°C, -80°C, and liquid nitrogen) to provide standardized services to the to members of the research community. The Biorepository manages a broad range of adult, child and infant specimen types, such as blood and its components, urine, nails, meconium, stool, placenta, breastmilk, DNA and RNA, as well as various environmental samples. Specimen processing services include blood fractionation, lymphocyte isolation, aliquoting of specimens for archival storage, human and microbiome nucleic acid extraction, quantification and normalization, tissue separation and fixation, specimen retrieval, shipping and referral management services. The Biorepository Core also plays a critical role in the development of new projects by working with investigators to pilot and establish methods for collection, processing, archiving and subsequent referral of study specimens. The Biorepository has processed roughly over 21,000 adult and infant specimens and archived over 100,000 aliquots. The Biorepository also manages the Dartmouth Biospecimen Storage Facility, a secure, off-site facility dedicated to long term storage of specimens, providing 24 hour/7 day a week, real-time video surveillance, continuous and redundant monitoring of freezer temperatures and emergency response to users.

The primary mission of the GeoSpatial Resource is to support the implementation of geospatial analysis for cancer research. Our goal is to provide expert consultation and collaboration for research projects of in behavior, epidemiology, and health services research. The GeoSpatial Resource also strives to educate members of the community in different aspects of geospatial analysis by providing courses through TDI and at Dartmouth College. We can provide assistance with acquisition of spatial data, project design, spatial analysis and mapping.

The Clinical Pharmacology Shared Resource operates in the Borwell Research Building at DHMC. In addition, to the biorepository function of our resource we also have bioanalytical hardware and computer hardware and state-of-the-art commercial software programs for application to individual and population-based pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modeling, and modeling drug in vitro and in vivo combination drug effects.
