Confocal microscopy (CLSM, including FRET, ion imaging, and colocalization), scanning electron microscopy (SEM, including ESEM for wet samples), SEM prep instrumentation (critical point dryer and sputter coater), epifluorescence microscopy and polarizing microscopy are all NIC imging core capabilities. Biological and materials samples are welcome.

The UWBC DNA Sequencing Facility was established to provide cost-effective, cutting edge sequencing resources available to the University of Wisconsin campus as well as colleagues at public and private institutions. We provide comprehensive, fee-for-service support for Illumina, PacBio, and Oxford Nanopore next generation sequencing projects, from project design and sample preparation (including DNA extraction) through downstream analysis in conjunction with the UWBC Bioinformatics Resource Facility. We are licensed providers of GBS (KeyGene) and we are Certified Service Providers of PacBio and Oxford Nanopore services. In addition, the Gene Expression Center performs RNA library prep, single cell RNA library prep, microarrays, and more. We can facilitate custom projects upon request. Our facility is committed to producing high-quality data, maintaining rapid turn-around times, and providing comprehensive support and resources.

The Radiopharmaceutical Analytics and Specimen Research (RASR) Lab was founded within the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) Initiative for Theranostics and Particle Therapy (ITPT) with the aim of being a one stop shop for radioactive sample analysis and storage. Our mission is to provide next generation in-vivo metabolism and biological assessment of new radiopharmaceuticals in clinical and preclinical studies. RASR is a fee-for-service facility that houses a suite of analytical instruments dedicated for use with radioactive biospecimens.

Pathology Services Core is essential to nonhuman primate colony health and research at the WNPRC. PSU team consists of pathologists with ACVP and/or ACLAM board certification, research program manager, and research specialists. Unit works with clinical veterinary staff to provide rapid diagnosis and effective monitoring and interpretation of acute and chronic conditions affecting colony animals as well as subjects assigned to research studies. Core offers services including clinical pathology testing; cytology evaluation; surgical biopsy evaluation; gross post mortem examination, specialized sample collections; and histology with unbiased interpretation of lesions in reference to spontaneous disease, experimental questions, and research goals. PSU is responsible for collection, banking, and distribution of NHP samples through both Nonhuman Primate Biological Materials Distribution core and National Institute on Aging Nonhuman Primate Tissue Bank.

Models Core in Waisman Center provides resources including mouse models of human conditions, along with behavioral testing capabilities to characterize these models and test new therapies; stem cell technologies to support creation of induced pluripotent stem cell lines for IDD conditions as well as specialized genome editing services; microscopy technology and expertise for characterization of both stem cell and mouse models of IDD conditions.

The Animal Models Core provides support for the generation of novel animal (mice, rats and swine) models using CRISPR or transgenic technology, cryopreservation, rederivation, and IVF recovery of rodent animal models.

The Biochemistry Optical Core (BOC) provides state-of-the-art instrumentation for light and fluorescence based microscopy, including epifluorescence, confocal, and super-resolution imaging. Established by a faculty-approved investment from the Department of Biochemistry Endowment, our goal is to serve the campus research community by providing access to and training on basic and advanced light microscopy techniques. Expertise and advice is available for the design of experiments involving these techniques.

Genome Editing & Animal Models (GEAM) provides services and expertise to generate new genome edited models, particularly mouse, rats, swine, and cell lines, as well as support the use of rodent models including cryopreservation, reservation, and assisted reproductive technologies.

A mass spectrometer facility that helps characterize the new and novel compounds synthesized at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The UWBC Gene Expression Center (GEC) is a fee-for-service facility that offers single cell RNA (scRNA), small RNA and bulk RNA library preparation and sequencing (Illumina, PacBio & Oxford Nanopore) services in collaboration with the UWBC DNA Sequencing Center. Illumina Beadarray Genotyping and Methylation services are also available on the iScan platform.

The Bioinformatics Resource Center (BRC) is a UW Biotechnology Center facility that provides bioinformatics support for high-throughput nucleic acid sequence data. We assist researchers with a wide variety of projects, including genome assembly, SNP detection, ChIP-Seq and expression profiling using RNA-Seq, RIP-seq, and small RNA analyses.

We provide basic computational support for analysis of the next-gen sequencing data so that it can be delivered to researchers in a usable form. We also provide project-specific advanced bioinformatic analysis for researchers with high throughput sequence data. BRC provides these services both for on-campus investigators as well as external customers, and for data generated at the UWBC or elsewhere.
