Description:

The Mass Spectrometry Core is part of Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility, situated in the Centre for Cardiovascular Sciences in the Queen's Medical Research Institute. We train and host undergraduate students, PhD and post-doctoral students in practical skills and mass spectrometry operation. We have expertise in sample preparation, separation and mass spectrometry analysis for targeted small molecule analysis in clinical and pre-clinical studies. We operate under Good Clinical Practice for laboratories for clinical studies. Steroids, drugs and endogenous molecules and metabolic pathways in plasma, serum, tissue. We also have Imaging Mass spectrometry capabilities with a Waters Synapt G2Si, MALDI and DESI.
