SAMIRA helps advance pre-clinical cancer research and radiotherapeutic innovation, and is directed by Dr. Jessie Nedrow. A comprehensive, state-of-the-art in vivo imaging suite offers high-resolution modalities to monitor disease progression and treatment efficacy in real time. The second aspect of SAMIRA encompasses a unique capability to design and synthesize radiopharmaceuticals for PET and SPECT imaging, integrated with radiotherapeutic development to support precision diagnostics and targeted interventions.

The Hillman/ University of Pittsburgh co-managed ACCT Labs are cell therapy labs that are co-directed by Drs. Sawa Ito and Devanjan Sikder. Located in more than 15,000 sq ft of lab space, boasting 12 clean rooms, the ACCT labs offer the unique services, and skill sets to help researchers take their cell therapy ideas through the Investigational New Drug (IND) process, including the manufacturing cell therapy products for cancer cell therapy trials. The labs are also responsible for monitoring immune function through cell therapy treatments, as well as processing blood products for a number of clinical trials. The ACCT lab plays a vital role in immunotherapy clinical trials developed by Hillman researchers.

TOPS is a UPMC Hillman Cancer Center managed and regulated resource that provides coordinated collection, processing, annotation, distribution, and storage of patient biospecimens to investigators and their respective collaborators.  

The UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Cancer Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics Facility provides accessible, economical, comprehensive, and state-of-the-art bioanalytical, pharmacokinetic and pharmacology research services that support preclinical and clinical research programs focused on oncology at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and medical institutions nationwide. Resources include HPLC-UV/fluorescence, ICP-MS, LC-MS/MS, LSC, ELISA, and in vivo rodent procedures, as well as advanced PK software suites and expertise for preclinical and clinical projects.

The Cancer Genomics Facility at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center supports genomics and transcriptomics platforms including nucleic acid extraction, sample QC, next-generation library preparation and sequencing. The facility specializes in paraffin-embedded tissue samples.

The Cancer Bioinformatics Services at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center provides bioinformatics support for translational genomics using sequencing, arrays, single cell, and other technologies.

The Cytometry Facility at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center supports analytical cytometry and cell sorting. The facility also offers NanoString Digital Spatial Analyzer and nCounter service and support.

The Biostatics Facility at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center provides statistical and computational methods for design, execution, analysis, and reporting of cancer-related research studies and trials including biomarker analysis and grant development.
